How to turn film reels into a watchlist you'll use

Updated 20 October 2026

"Five thrillers that will mess with your head." You save it, you save the next one, and on Friday night you still scroll Netflix for forty minutes. The films are in your Saved folder. They're just locked inside reels.

1. Write the titles down

Film list reels usually name the titles on screen, in the caption, or out loud. Pause on each title and jot it down. If a title isn't named, check the comments: someone has always asked.

2. Put them in a real watchlist

A watchlist you'll open on a Friday is better than a folder of reels. Add each title to the watchlist in your streaming app, or keep one list across services with an app such as Letterboxd, IMDb or JustWatch, which also shows where a film is streaming in your country.

3. Keep the reel if the pitch matters

Sometimes the reason to watch is the reel itself: the scene, the hook. Save those into a Watch collection (press and hold the bookmark icon), so they're separate from recipes and memes.

4. Or send the reel to Gugu

Share a film reel with Gugu in your Instagram messages and each film or show it mentions becomes its own find in your stash: a reel listing five films gives you five. Tick them off as you watch, rate them, and when you can't decide, ask Gugu to pick something from what you've saved, like "something scary" or "a feel-good film".

Actually watch them

  • Pick before you open Netflix. Decide from your list first. Browsing the app is how forty minutes disappear.
  • Keep it short. If your watchlist has two hundred films, star ten. A short list gets watched.
  • Rate what you watch. A quick score tells you which reel accounts are worth trusting next time.
